Kripalu Yoga
Why We Offer YOGA to Athlete’s:
Yoga develops and strengthens the mind and body. Training includes physical postures, breathing exercises, meditation, visualization and relaxation techniques. Yoga increases balance, flexibility, focus, power and strength. It will also teach students how to relax, become centered and balanced. Yoga is excellent for all types of athletes. The myriad health benefits of yoga are well documented by scientists and doctors.
While stretching the students will learn specific breathing techniques that help them focus, concentrate and relax. For a person to be successful in sports he will need to learn how to focus his attention on the present moment. Yoga helps an athlete bring his mind and body into the here and now. This greater level of concentration is imperative for optimal success in any sport.
Yoga is an ancient holistic system of personal development and stress management. Regular yoga practice enhances physical health, strengthens the immune system and creates a sense of harmony and well-being.
ach Yoga class integrates the practices of asana, pranayama and meditation. The Kripalu approach to alignment combines the science of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology with yoga’s energetic system of prana to empower the individual to make body-intelligent choices from within. Practices are led as a creative inquiry with an emphasis upon personal experience being the authentic teacher.
Ongoing practice of the Kripalu approach to yoga awakens the prana (lifeforce) within. This awakened prana profoundly transforms, heals and enlivens the body, self and experience of life.
